About Me

Hello, I’m Dawn

Ever since I was a child, I’ve loved making clothes tailored to fit – starting with the dresses I specially adapted for my beloved one-armed doll!

I was about seven years old when my Grandmother gave a vintage hand sewing machine to my sisters and I. That was just the beginning of my journey into the world of fabrics, clothes and hand sewing techniques. But it took a few decades of making outfits for me, my family and friends before I realised that sewing beautiful bespoke pieces was more than just a hobby.

After many years, and having left a happy career as a Primary School Teacher to set up my own business, I had the good fortune to be mentored by a professional seamstress. With her, I learned to pattern draft using traditional techniques, so that every outfit could be planned and conceived from vision through to the finished outfit.

Finally, I had the confidence to turn my lifelong passion into something more. To use the skills I’d learned from my many thousands of hours sewing to create unique vintage-inspired clothes for babies and toddlers.

I’m a passionate believer in handmade pieces which are made to last, as an antidote to the mass-produced clothes that end up in landfill every year.

Even if only for one special occasion, I’d love every child to know what it’s like to wear an outfit sewn especially for them – and for their families to have the joy of passing a handcrafted heirloom down through future generations.
